When visiting Damas, you will be greeted by warm colours, materials symbolic of the Middle East, lots of exposed wood and a ceiling lined with multicoloured lights and chandeliers. The walls are lined with black and white tiles, all with Arabic-styled designs.

The decor alone will have guests feeling like they are suddenly in the Middle East.

Chef-owner Fuad Alnirabie has created a menu entirely of Syrian specialties, from the spices, and colours right down to the portion sizes and plating!

The food at Damas is what the restaurant is best known for. Syrian cuisine is composed of fresh spices, with many different food groups playing a role in a single dish. Some of our favourites are the charcoal bbq selections and Fattet Mozat which is charred lamb shanks served on a bed of yogurt and rice. You absolutely have to try the Fattouch salade, arguably one of the most popular dishes served at Damas. From the cold appetizer selections, make sure to try the cold mezzes and the octopus salad.

If you are up for it, you can try one of Damas tasting menus, catering to vegetarians and pescetarians alike, Damas offers a variety of tasting menus so that guests can try as many of the dishes as possible.

The cocktail list at Damas is very symbolic of the flavours of the Middle East and is paired to the various dishes they serve. You’ll find cilantro, saffron and rose in many of the cocktails.

Damas has its own Sommelier, Charles Tarzi, who hand-selects the wines himself, many of which are private imports.

The true magic of Damas is its ability to bridge multiple cultures and ethnicities, which we are fortunate enough to have many of in Montreal, all over the love of delicious food, a unique atmosphere and spending time in the company of those closest to us.

Our tip? Reserve in advance, the popularity of Damas means that getting a reservation, especially for a large group can take time. We recommend reserving at least a month in advance.
